Yesterday MCSO released a new flyer and questionnaire they will be getting out to all residents in the vicinity of Skyline Elementary. While these questionnaires continue to center on Terri Horman and the white Ford F250 pickup she was driving on June 4th, containing pictures of both, they now also contain pictures of DeDe Spicher and questions about possible sightings of either or both women on June 4th. But in addition to the added emphasis of DeDe Spicher in MCSO’s efforts to find possible witnesses of characters who appear to be of prime importance in the criminal investigation of the disappearance of Kyron Horman, the flyers also center on one specific gap in time: 9:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. June 4th.
Previous reports about DeDe Spicher going missing from the job she was working on at a farm near Skyline on June 4th had her going missing at sometime around 11:15 to 11:30 a.m. and not being seen again by her coworker and the property owner until around 1:00 p.m. However, yesterday KGW reported they were told by “sources within the community, including people who have spoken with investigators” that DeDe may have gone missing from the job as early as 10:00 a.m. that morning. This, of course, is nothing confirmed, but at the same time matches with the new and tighter time frame of 9:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. law enforcement is focusing on in the new flyers.
In a previous article here at The Hinky Meter we analyzed a tentative timeline that had been based on reports of Terri’s account to law enforcement of her activities on June 4th after leaving Skyline Elementary. In that analysis MCSO statements and requests for surveillance videos on certain routes and at certain stores were incorporated into the time line as assumptions of where Terri may have gone. I’d like review that time line again in light of the emails that were released yesterday by KATU.
As discussed in the linked article concerning Terri’s emails that she began to send to someone on the morning of June 5th, the day after Kyron went missing, in those early hours of the investigation Terri was claiming to have left Skyline Elementary at 9:00 a.m. She then outright states that she has a receipt (and reports have previously stated that Terri could “prove” she was at certain stores after leaving Skyline) from the Fred Meyer’s on Imbrie Drive with a time stamp of 9:12 a.m. June 4th. As discussed, this was not possible. The drive from Skyline to that Freddy’s takes at least 12 minutes at which point she must park, walk into the store and make purchases. But there is something else Terri admitted to doing in the emails that would extend the amount of time between her leaving Skyline and checking out at Fred Meyer’s. She states she was looking for a specific medicine (assumed over the counter) for Kiara and that the Freddy’s on Imbrie did not have this medicine, so she had to go to a second store. This extends the time it would have taken for Terri to eventually check out because there has to be time allowed for her to look for the medicine and determine it wasn’t in that store.
As the emails indicate (according to Terri, at least) by later in the day Saturday she had been through five interviews with law enforcement. Most likely part of the reason she had been repetitively questioned was that at least this first claim of hers (leaving Skyline at 9 and checking out of Freddy’s at 9:12) couldn’t possibly of happened. By the time information on the timeline Terri had been providing law enforcement was reported in the media, Terri had already had to push her time for leaving Skyline back to 8:45 a.m. in order to make her “receipt” work.
Leaving Skyline at 8:45 a.m. and driving straight to Fred Meyer’s would, in fact, work for a 9:12 a.m. check-out. (We are assuming right now based on Terri’s emails and her statement that she can “prove” she was there that the receipt from this Freddy’s actually does exist.) Now, in the emails Terri states to her friend that between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. (when roll was called and Kyron was marked absent) is when they “think it happened”. That’s an important statement by Terri since she is establishing, via her receipt, that she was elsewhere during that time frame. The interesting thing about this is that with the new reports of two eye-witnesses seeing a second adult sitting in Terri’s pickup while she was in Skyline Elementary, this means she could have left the school with both children in the backseat, gone to the Fred Meyer’s, made a transaction to establish an alibi while leaving both children in the backseat of the pickup to be watched by the second adult.
Curiously, however, when Terri talks about the medicine not being at the first store she went to, and that she had to go to a second store to find it, she does not state to the friend in the emails that she has a receipt from the second store. Now in these early emails Terri claims she went to a second Fred Meyer’s store. But later reported requests by law enforcement have them requesting surveillance video from the Freddy Meyer’s store on Imbrie and an Albertson’s 18 minutes away from the Freddy’s. This could indicate one of two things: there is a second change in Terri’s story from the early hours of the investigation (as reflected in her claims in the email) as the interviews with law enforcement continued to press her to “make her story work”, or law enforcement obtained other information (a transaction or eye-witness accounts) that placed Terri at the Albertson’s in contradiction to the second Fred Meyer’s store.
Which ever scenario you want to go with on why law enforcement would be requesting video from an Albertson’s when Terri initially claimed she was at a second Freddy’s the apparent discrepancy sure makes Desiree’s statement “I can tell you what I ate that day, and she can’t tell you where she was…” make a lot of sense.
So let’s modify our analysis to an assumption that there was no second store and that assumption will based on Terri apparently not being able to prove that she was at any store after the first Freddy’s.
She checks out at 9:12 a.m. Let’s assume she is ready to leave the parking lot at 9:15 a.m. It is approximately a 17 minute drive to either of the following locations: the area near the Horman residence, or the area near 1300 NW Old Germantown Road where it is reported DeDe was working. This places Terri in either of these locations around 9:32 a.m. For the sake of argument let’s assume the Horman residence and just speculate on possible scenarios for a moment:
The second adult in the pickup with Terri Horman enters the Horman residence with both children. Terri leaves the Horman residence and heads toward 1300 NW Old Germantown to pickup DeDe. Let’s give the adult and the two children 5 minutes to relocate into the Horman house. That’s 9:37 a.m. The drive from the Horman house to DeDe’s work location is approximately 15 minutes. This puts Terri picking up DeDe at 9:52 a.m. – possibly at a preplanned location on the farm where they both would have been out of sight to any other workers at the location. At this point, the second adult in the pickup along with DeDe are collected, and the planned actions proceed from there over the next 3 hours.
Now, that’s just one speculative scenario to show how the new time that is being reported for DeDe going missing from the farm could work with possible movements of Terri and the second adult. The important thing to keep in mind is that sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. (when Terri is stated to have arrived at Skyline Elementary with Kyron) a second adult appears to have joined her. This means one of two things: either that adult came to the Horman residence and rode with them to the school, or Terri picked them up somewhere close to the Horman house or the school. And the importance of one of the two having to happen is that places the second adult’s vehicle (possibly a second white pickup?) within the same driving distance to where DeDe was working. So my point here is that even if Terri did not return to the Horman house with the second adult, she still would have been within the same driving time to go get DeDe at (or near) the farm.
At this point we potentially have two other adults involved with handling Kiara and Kyron. Terri no longer even needs to be involved. However Terri’s movements seem to be unknown from about this time until 11:39 a.m. when she is reported to have checked into the 24-Hour Fitness Center. This would indicate that maybe at least one of these adults was involved to do nothing but tend to Kiara while whatever happened with Kyron took place over the next hour and a half. But the next question is this: IF the reports that the Fitness center has Terri checking in at 11:39 a.m. are correct, what was DeDe Spicher doing for almost another hour and half? Because it is reported she did not return to work until around 1 p.m.
MCSO has announced a press conference at 11:00 a.m. PT today. It has been stated they will be requesting the public’s assistance in obtaining further information. With the release of the new flyer and questionnaire yesterday, it appears what they will be asking for is information on the 3 hours DeDe is reported to have been missing – and possibly more information on the unidentified adult sitting in Terri’s pickup while it was in the Skyline Elementary parking lot.
Valhall.
