Up 1 criminal defense lawyer, down 1 criminal defense lawyer – net zero. That’s the status on criminal defense attorneys in the universe of “moms who may have killed their children”. In the Caylee Anthony murder trial the “angel of death row” death penalty qualified mitigation guru Andrea Lyon Skyped her resignation in yesterday and will no longer be part of Casey Anthony’s defense team. Jose Baez said it was for financial reasons. It’s not like Andrea Lyon has been there in person much in the first place, so not sure why all of a sudden the pro bono work on this case is breaking her bank. Theories on her leaving the team range from:
- Getting out while the getting’s good. She did get to promote a new book while in the “limelight” of this circus and exiting stage left allows her to retain her “record” since the spiraling defense moves don’t look to promising if she hangs with them.
- May be a deal in the works. Could this be a sign the defense will no longer need a mitigation attorney? Are they working a plea deal? My vote is no because I don’t think Casey “I’m gonna bless your bracelet” Anthony is ever going to admit to anything.
- She saw Cheney Mason’s horrid post-hearing interview with Orlando media last week and had a WTF??? moment. This is very close to the first scenario only in this one she threw up in her own mouth first before she Skyped in her resignation.
- She got her pee-pee smacked by her “foundation” for what may have been spending indiscretions associated with the Casey Anthony defense.
In the Kyron Horman case, Terri Horman got big-hitting criminal defense attorney Stephen Houze in her corner yesterday. This move comes on the heels of Kaine moving out with their 19 month old baby girl, Kiara, and filing for divorce. In addition, Kaine received a restraining order that bars Terri from being around her own daughter – supervised or not. That restraining order was sealed based on the judge determining that it being made public would jeopardize the investigation into Kyron’s disappearance. The divorce and restraining order became public knowledge, and was served on Terri Monday evening. Via Terri’s friends her response was “holy crap, how am I going to afford a lawyer now!?”. For some odd reason several people thought she meant a divorce lawyer so she could at least get things worked out to see her own daughter. Silly rabbits. She meant a criminal defense lawyer.
In other news, 7 year old Kyron is still missing. If law enforcement is reading, please look in the KRUEGER POND AREA including THE NEARBY PIT and THE TUNNEL.
