The service for Aja Johnson was beautiful. The room was full of love, protection and support – almost 400 people there for her, and her dear sweet father and stepmother. Aja was very loved by her daddy, J.J. Johnson, and her extended family. And her family extended to those of us who came to know her beautiful face and prayed and hoped and did what little we could to try to bring her home. The most touching part of the service was when little 9 year old Jada from Aja’s family read the poem God’s Garden
God looked around his garden
And found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, ‘Peace be Thine’.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

Mr. Johnson, who has had weeks and weeks to begin the grieving period that will extend through the rest of his life, was a gracious man who remained strong during the time we were there. The Daily Oklahoman reports that he eventually embraced Aja’s little casket, fell to one knee, and released the portion of his grief he could not contain.

There is much to be shared on this story in the future. I believe Mr. Johnson is a good-hearted man with a strong will. I believe he has already been surrounded by those who will assist him in taking the immense evil and darkness that stole his little Aja away and turn it to a positive vengeance that will change things…things that must be changed to prevent this happening again.
And I am committed to help him in those efforts in whatever way I can. There is more to say…but that is left for another day.
For now…we miss you Aja, and God bless you Mr. and Mrs. Johnson.
Valhall.
