I have created this blog for the purpose of researching historical events, current events, criminal cases, and missing persons cases which are intriguing and appear to have informational gaps that are difficult to fill. I am hoping that through this blog I can find friends and colleagues who share an interest in the same type topics. It is through the discussion of matters that we hold common and dear that we all grow together and, through symbiosis, become more than we ever could have alone.
I look forward to sharing my thoughts with you, and to reading yours. And I look forward to the growth I’m sure I’ll experience in the exchange.
Valhall.

You are terribly bright, and I am “terribly impressed!” What is your educational background? Yeah, I know, I’m being nosy, but I would really like to know. Just the basics. Bet your parents are so PROUD of you!

The following comment was left on “Read what Forensics Professionals are saying about The Hinky Meter” which I feel was an inappropriate place to leave it, so I will just publish it here since it is speaking to this introductory post of my blog.
Hello, suspicious, I’d like to take your points one at a time:
1. The “not-so-subtle monetization” must be referring to the three small Google ads I have. I have not attempted to hide them, so I agree that it is “not-so-subtle”. However, I’m not sure they will even pay for my server costs, so I’m not sure I’m going to get to quit my day job.
2. “The links on other message boards” – this accusation I don’t understand. I have not left my link on any message board other than my husband’s and at Websleuths. And the link on Websleuths was just to a picture I have saved here, not directly to my blog.
3. “you can’t be looking down your nose at the Anthonys for making money off Caylee” – I actually haven’t said a word about the Anthonys making money on Caylee, so I’m thinking you have me mistaken with some one else.
4. And lastly, you state concerning Dr. Green’s review: “Glowing review listed above. Rare praise for a blog that has been in existence for what? Six weeks?? Impressive.” Thank you.
Val, Keep your head up and keep doing what you are doing to help us understand things better. Your work is impressive and factual, well thought out and takes alot of your time to bring us, the people your insight. I love your site and read everyday. Keep on, keepin on!
I’ve been lurking and reading your blog and think it’s one of sane sites on Casey Anthony. I like your insight on Casey and family.
I know Maura is very good with facts and don’t know if she has pointed to what
Cindy told OCSO that Casey told her. She said that Zenadia got the Ford Focus as a rental car after her dark reddish Toyota was totaled in the “wreck” on June 23, 2008. I can’t remember what Amy drove before her wreck but she drove a rental to pick up her new car, a dark reddish Toyota. There was also a text that Casey had sent Chris Stuz? Will Waters? that she was getting a rental.
Casey gave quite a bit of information on Zenaida during the hospital stay (even though Raquel’s mother was taking her back to Orlando) she gave Casey a key to the apartment at Sawgrass to get her insurance information and told her where to find it in the apartment.
I know I tend to have several thoughts in my head at times and I wonder about Cindy telling OCSO that she had a statement from their vet that their dog’s didn’t have fleas. This was when Cindy says Caylee came in with flea bites and they were from Zanny’s dog. I guess it is where Zanny’s phone number is that Cindy has misplaced.

I’ve bumped this original article to ask a favor. Here lately it seems people are a bit…demanding, touchy, sensitive. Something along those lines.
I want to reiterate here that I created this blog for certain personal reasons. And I’m continuing it for those reasons.
Here are some things I ask of you to consider:
1. You won’t always agree with what I write, the way I write it, or what I’m writing about. If you don’t like a particular article, just say no and walk away. If you don’t like my opinion or my interpretation of evidence in a particular article – speak up and share why you don’t. If you see I’ve got something totally wrong – correct me. But please don’t denigrate my articles or blog simply because you don’t like the topic at hand, or don’t like the manner in which I wrote. I’m not here to have my writing style or my personality critiqued. I think we are all free to just not hang around if we don’t like something, and I assume you will choose that path if you’re unhappy, disgusted or just plain mad at me.
2. If you read something that a fellow commenter has stated and it immediately makes you very emotional (say offended, disgusted, mad as hell, whatever) and your initial reaction is to make an EMOTIONAL response to that comment, that’s probably a good time to just sit back for a minute and try to get to what LOGICALLY doesn’t sit well with you. I can say this from first-hand knowledge because I’m the world’s worst at making an emotional response to some one and then causing drama. But I committed to NOT doing that here because I want this to be a non-drama blog. Sometimes it takes everything I’ve got to not slip into my old bad habits, but I’ve done pretty good so far – only a couple of minor backslides that I can recall.
3. Number 2 does NOT mean we cannot disagree, and further to that point, if some one (including me) disagrees with your comment on a logical basis, it is not a personal attack. Don’t respond as if it is. If an argument is presented against what you have stated based on logic, facts, etc., grin and bear it, sit back and formulate a logical response to further a debate – not a personal, heated argument.
4. Please keep in mind that I am inherently irreverent, raised in the oilpatch, not the Virgin Mary, and don’t hold the same things sacred that you may. I will address things at times in a fashion you won’t like – see number 1 above.
Also, this blog will evolve. I do not want this blog to be a clique of a small number of readers commenting. I want to see new perspectives. That will lead to nuances that may cause discomfort in those who have been here a while. Be patient with newcomers who may not be at the same level of research on a given topic you are.
And then lastly, to the newcomers, you will not see many of the commenters here provide links when they make a statement. That’s because the discovery backing their statements is readily available. Most times in the Timeline and Discovery page in the Library here at The Hinky Meter. You’ll rarely see me ask for a link unless the comment made is a totally new point that I missed OR a statement that is not correct based on the discovery released. I urge you to read the discovery…it will takes weeks, but then you’ll know. Basically, don’t expect the other commenters to go do your research for you.
Thanks again to everybody who contributes and enriches my life.
Val I keep promoting your site on my twitter in hopes your knowledge gets out there for those who really want to learn and know more about the Case against Casey or anything else you write about. I believe YOU are one of the best. I enjoy all you do and the people who post here as well.
Val, I just wanted to clarify that my ‘Amen’ comment was meant to follow Hadley’s comment regarding a place called Heaven, and not Sheldon’s comment questioning why you would post the Carl Sagan information. I so regret that you felt it necessary to close comments on that post, but I can certainly understand why you did.
Still love your site, and you definitely have my support, Val! You go girl!

I knew you were talking to my comment because the other comment had not been approved by me to show up yet. No worries!
Thank you, Val.
Valhall,
I sincerly hope the closing of that thread wasn’t from my initial comment.
If it was, I am sorry; it was not my intent.
I’ve spent three hours this morning reading your site- I’m hooked! Finally an investigation blog I can relate to on a viceral level. This is a fantastic resource website for sleuthers and anyone wishing to be well informed. It’s like Wikipedia, only better … It’s Hinkipedia!
Much thanks to you, Val. You’ll see me back here again- often and soon! Thanks again!!
Val, I have spent the last few hours (at work) reading everything that I can get to on this site. I have to say the information here has once again lit a fire in me to go back and read all of the information regarding this case. I had let the antics of the Duhfense Team and the Anthony’s get me so pissed off that I told myself that I couldn’t take it anymore. (I can take more)
I hope it’s not wrong of me to be laughing but when I was reading the “strike 3″ series I couldn’t help myself. What a great job you did at pointing out the absurdness of the lies that have been spun and are still being spun.
Thank you for such an informative site and I will be back on a daily basis. (I just found this site today)
Please keep it coming!
Dear Calamity and Janielane,
Welcome to the Hinky Meter. Thank you so much for your kind words. I look forward to reading your thoughts in the future.
Momof3, I don’t want to engage in a discussion about the OJ case, because Val will “get us”. The blacks on that jury would not have convicted OJ regardless of what evidence they heard. I am confident that the prosecution in the Casey case are very much not assuming this is a “slam dunk”. Make no mistake, the challenges by the defense of the forenics, air samples, etc., will be huge!
god i so love this blog except for when the racism rears its ugly head
my dear linda pope..
do not worry i will ‘get’ you
“The blacks on that jury would not have convicted OJ regardless of what evidence they heard.”
You left out IMO since clearly that is Not a factual statement. The jury collectively, whatever race some of them were, did not convict OJ IMO because the defense brilliantly played the race card and then produced eveidence of the prosecutions star witness lying about being a racist. If you want to blame the ‘blacks’ on the jury for the OJ verdict i believe you need to level equal blame with fuhrman.

Yep. And do people still use the term “the blacks”? I thought that went out years ago.
But there is a point in there somewhere, IMO. I watched the whole of the OJ trail and while the verdict (again, IMO) clearly reflected something other than consideration of the factual evidence, it did seem like there was so much information to absorb that I wonder if some of the jurors just gave up trying. A very interesting consideration for Casey’s trail, perhaps?
Okay, let’s leave behind the OJ trial if we have to pull race cards to talk about it. Opinions have been stated, let’s move on.
Well, except for me to say I believe the prosecution lost the OJ trial…now let’s move on.
Yup. Marcia Clark never should have changed her hairstyle. It all went downhill from there.
In all sincerity, I agree, Val. I’m not smart enough to figure out what went wrong, but I do wonder if she threw so much stuff at the jury they just lifted their hands and cried Uncle (or, “Not Guilty”
.
The bloody glove thing was pretty stupid too, but I think there was just WAAAAY too much to absorb in a way that didn’t engage the jury.
Hoping that’s not going to be the case in the Casey Anthony case…
