The defense team has attempted to redirect all eyes back to Roy Kronk, Orlando water meter reader who ultimately found the dumped body of Caylee Marie Anthony. This move is most likely because their client is about to plead guilty on Monday to being a thief, and – well – that begs a diversion, now doesn’t it? They want to depose Roy’s ex-wife, Jill Kerley, in Maryville, Tennessee due to her health issues (Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma). Ms. Kerley should, in fact, be offered special exceptions due to her health problems, after all the disease has already cut short what looked to be a burgeoning career in crime with a rap sheet including theft, forgery and obtaining drugs by fraud. I think we can all agree her life has been adversely affected enough by this cancerous condition.
Jill Kerley will be testifying in this deposition that Roy Kronk bound her on at least two occasions with “heavy duty duct tape” – of which she is prepared to testify he was very proud. Now, let’s be clear that there will be no one else to substantiate this. This is just Jill stepping up before society, most likely trying to “do what’s right” in an effort to make amends to society for all the criminal crap she did in the past. In fact, it could very well be presented (oh wait, it already has been on the media circuit by Linda Kenny-Baden) as a death-bed attempt to “make right”.
So based on this one cancerous, bitter woman’s account of duct tape – Roy Kronk murdered Caylee. That’s what the defense team’s strategy reduces to. We’ve already looked at the lunacy in this strategy, both in a not so serious manner, as well as in a more serious manner. And we’ve seen that short of being able to establish a motive, any connection to Caylee or the Anthony family, or any access to Caylee affording an opportunity to commit the crime, the strategy is sheer genius (ouch! I bit my tongue).
But what I’d like to look at this time, is how the heck the defense is going to get over one small hurdle in their road to justice and pinning this whole thing on Kronk. That hurdle would be, their client’s statements to law enforcement. Now, we’ve looked at Casey’s Predicament due to the multiple false statements made to investigators in the first 24 hours of the investigation into her missing daughter. To put it mildly, she’s in a tight spot. But let’s look at some of these statements now as they affect the current attempt by the defense team to implicate Roy Kronk in the murder of Caylee – bearing in mind that Casey Anthony has NEVER rescinded the accusation that Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez was the kidnapper of Caylee Marie Anthony.
Here is Casey’s description, from her written statement provided to law enforcement on the morning of July 16th, 2008:
Caylee’s nanny, Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, has watched her for the past year and a half, to two years. Zenaida is twenty-five years old, and is from New York. She is roughly 5 foot 7 inches tall, 140 pounds. She has dark brown, curly hair, and brown eyes. Zenaida’s birthday is in September.
Then in the first interview with law enforcement a few hours later Casey adds that Zenaida is “black and Puerto Rican mix”. When we take the written statement and the two interviews with Casey on that first day we also find that Zenaida has a mother named Gloria, a father named Victor and a sister named Samantha. She drives a 2008 Silver Ford Focus. She went to the University of Florida, and she has been a nanny for at least 2 years. She is originally from New York. Oh, and she lived in apartment 210 of Sawgrass apartments with roommates Raquel Farrell and Jennifer Rosa.
So let’s step through the looking glass and pretend the defense gets to put Jill Kerley on the stand! She tells her sad story of abuse at the hands of Roy Kronk, and emphasizes (through the assistance of the defense) his obsession with duct tape. And maybe she coughs or gets weak while she’s on the stand as well – that would help. Maybe she’ll come with an IV that she has to drag to the witness stand…even better.
While the following questions MAY be asked of Ms. Kerley by the prosecution, they most definitely could be asked of Mr. Kronk, his family, his supervisors and coworkers, and friends who have a close personal relationship with Roy.
At any time since 2006 have you known Mr. Kronk to go by the name Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, or requested you call him “Zanny”?
Do you know of Mr. Kronk working on the side as a nanny since 2006?
Has Mr. Kronk ever claimed to have a mother named Gloria, a father named Victor and/or a sister named Samantha?
To your knowledge did Mr. Kronk attend the University of Florida?
Is Mr. Kronk originally from New York?
Since 2006, to your knowledge, has Mr. Kronk lived at the Sawgrass apartments, apartment 210?During that time has Mr. Kronk ever had female roommates by the name of Raquel Farrell and Jennifer Rosa?
Has Mr. Kronk been moonlighting as a seasonal worker for Universal in the past 4 years?
Prior to July 16th, 2008, did you ever hear Mr. Kronk state he was babysitting Caylee Anthony?
Prior to that date did you ever hear Mr. Kronk mention any of the following names: Caylee Anthony, Casey Anthony, Cindy Anthony, George Anthony or Lee Anthony?
In June, 2008, did Mr. Kronk own a 2008 Silver Ford Focus? Has he ever?
Could you please check your records and state to the court if between the hours of 9 am and 1 pm on June 16th, 2008, Mr. Kronk was at work as a meter reader for the city of Orlando? Could you please tell the court where Mr. Kronk’s route was located during those hours?
