51 Loads of Laundry – Update

We had several readers give some awesome input to this topic. These are the outcomes of those inputs:
1. George confirmed in an interview that the Anthonys DO use the Arm & Hammer detergent. (Info provided by CarrieK. Link to interview: http://www.wftv.com/video/17934383/index.html
2. Tony confirmed in an interview that HE uses the same Arm & Hammer detergent. (Info provided by Maura. Also provided link of purchase on 07/08/08 of new bottle of detergent: http://www.wftv.com/video/17660816/index.html)
3. I compared the MSDS’s for the two detergents to the chemicals detected in the Body Farm testing as well as the tests on the trunk liner performed at the FBI lab – the cleaners do not show up in either of these tests. Therefore, the conclusion is that these cleaners were not used on the trunk liner and the elevated chloroform levels did not come from any chemical reactions due to the presence of these cleaners.

I’m going to go out on a limb and just outright state, the 80 oz. jug of Arm & Hammer Clean Burst 2X Concentration laundry detergent didn’t come from Tony’s apartment. It came from the Anthony home. Here’s a picture of what I’m talking about. This empty jug of detergent is listed in the contents of the trash bag that had been in Casey’s trunk. You can view the contents list here. The image below is taken from the images released previously which can be viewed here.  The following picture is number 7 of 8 in that slideshow.

Here is a picture of the same product found at the product promo page.

So why do I feel so sure that this came from the Anthony home and not Tony’s apartment?  Well, it’s based on logic and trying to avoid calling something coincidence when it really doesn’t need to be, and odds are isn’t.  First, note that this 80 oz bottle of laundry detergent will do 51 loads of laundry.  Logically speaking this would mean that it wasn’t bought while Casey was at Tony’s apartment – not unless she was doing laundry on the side for a few extra bucks (don’t try to make me believe that).  So the super-jug of detergent would have had to have been at Tony’s prior to Casey moving in, and fairly depleted to have ran out while she was there.  That’s a reasonable possibility.  Two or three dudes in an apartment may have been raised by frugal moms who taught them to buy bulk and so they’d been nursing this jug for some time.  I’ll buy that.  Until we get to the coincidence part.

Cindy uses the same detergent.  That’s when it gets hard to believe that just by chance Tony and the boys use the very same liquid laundry soap Betty Crocker uses.  This picture is Exhibit 25 from Cindy’s deposition.  And it clearly shows two huge jugs of the same liquid laundry detergent.  (You can click on the pic to enlarge.)

The only logical deduction is that in one of Casey’s trips to the Anthony home one of two things happened.  She either grabbed an almost empty jug of this detergent (maybe because they were out at Tony’s apartment) and eventually used it up at Tony’s and it was placed in the trash bag, OR she emptied the almost empty jug of detergent while at the Anthony home – with her car parked backwards in the garage and other really interesting mysterious things happening.

I have attempted to locate an MSDS for this precise product, but it has been replaced with two new versions:  The “Essentials” line (which is a new “green” laundry detergent with plant enzymes) and the “plus Oxiclean” line.  The composition of these two new lines is extremely different.  I am thinking the chemical composition of the product found in Casey’s trunk is closer to the Oxiclean line.  I have emailed Arm & Hammer and requested the MSDS for the Clean Burst, no Oxiclean added, product this is.  I want to see if there are constituents in this product that could explain some of the chemical signature found in the carpet liner.
