I’m not sure what to make of the changing statements from the OSBI concerning the investigation into Carol Daniels’ murder. On December 7 I wrote that the family of Carol Daniels along with District Attorney Brett Burns had gone public with their concerns over the lack of information and progress in the investigation. At that time Jessica Brown, spokeswoman for OSBI, was asked if she felt the OSBI should bring in outside help, such as the FBI. Her response was that a task force would be of no good without leads. Of course, that statement made no sense when she said it because if you have no leads, that’s probably the best time to start asking for a new set of eyes on things.
But just 11 days later Jessica Brown is quoted by the Daily Oklahoman as stating “We still have real good leads,” Brown said. “But good leads come and go.” If having no leads was Ms. Brown’s excuse for not requesting FBI assistance, I’m assuming we can now get past that barrier with this new statement of “real good leads”.
An interesting comment was made by Charles Etta Dunlap, Carol Daniels’ mother. She states she is spending her days “retracing faces and moments in her mind”. She has shared these remembrances with authorities. Hopefully something Ms. Dunlap has remembered will lead this investigation forward. And hopefully the OSBI will request assistance to ensure all eyes possible are looking at the evidence of this case.
Valhall.
