December 4th, 2009, Donna Jackson of Lincoln County Oklahoma woke in the middle of the night with her dogs barking. She discovers a crazed man banging on her back door and yelling. She is alone, with her husband at work. She calls 911 and finds herself facing the most tragic decision a person can face.

There are those of us who have been raised to know how to use a gun in defense, have grown up hunting and knowing how to use firearms. There are those of us who have not. Among both groups are those of us who believe we would do certain things to defend ourselves and our families, but it should be pointed out that when that moment arrives, your own fear does not make that decision emotionally easier.
Prayers to Ms. Jackson. And may none of us ever be in this situation.
