"Medical Technology" is/has been a unique field, practitioners have been housed in the depths of the hospital setting, standardization has never been applied to the field regarding education (none,OJT,medical assisting, Associate, Bachelor,Master) and/or titles (lab "girls", techs, vampires, med. techs, lab techs, clinical laboratory scientists); salaries are not on par with others of equivalent educational backgrounds, visibility to the public is minimal and frustrations ABOUND! BUT one thing most of us are is advocates for those unknown folks behind the sample on the testing bench! Oh yeah, one other tiny detail: WE LIVE and TEST by following protocols and logical progressions....and defend our "TOYS" aka instruments with loving care and QUALITY CONTROL protocols in order that we may pass with "flying colors" our proficiency tests! PS: JUST A BIT too intense for a Friday but you'll see Dr. Vass' passion also!
