I haven't yet commented on Shannon because this one hit a bit too close to home, for me. I was on the phone with my brother, who lives in North Florida when the story first broke, so he was first to tell me close to an hour or so before it made the news down here. He lives just outside of Chipley, where just a few years ago his five year old little boy was struck by a car and killed, while visiting his mother. Chipley itself, then, is a sensitive spot, and especially for him; so we struggled for a little while as he considered going over and joining in a search for Shannon, as he feels most strongly about such things as missing, exploited and abused kids. But, he hadn't been back to Chipley since his own little boy's death, so it was a struggle; though eventually he did decide to go meet up with some friends to see what they could do. The next I heard from him, he was hysterically crying, "Willow, they found her! She's alright!" But of course, they were tears of joy. And all I can say to that is, Thank God.

Rest in peace, John-John.
We miss you. We love you.

Hi Mary Beth,

Thank you for your kind words. I probably won't speak publicly too much about myself. I don't view myself as any more intelligent than any one else. I just have a knack for being an archivist. That's what I am...an archivist. And I have a knack for writing in the passive voice - which means I can be pretty good at writing technical papers. lmao

Susan Baker spent 80 days of a 10 year sentence, that is a outrage. Where is the justice system, are they asleep on the bench, you break the arms of a child and bruise it and get 80 days, this really ticks me off with the justice system.

I know this is off topic but the Iowa vs. Kehoe GUILTY verdict came in today too! She's getting LWOP! It's too bad we don't have the DP here for cases like this but at least she didn't succeed in her attempts to get off by claiming insanity. Wonderful news all around today! :-D

I so agree with you, Sky. Shannon needs a good family who will love and care for her for the rest of her second chance at life.

I'm watching a recap of the news conferance = yes, it it a miracle that the baby was found.
They are saying that the mother met the "babysitter" at the mailbox and she handed her off.
Not sure what the reasons are....

But, in the end, a Glorious Day, and hopefully, now, this tiny one will be placed in a foster home where she will be cared for properly, and that the parents have their parental rights terminated.
No more second chances.

I know that it is always Social Services priority to return children to their family, and, I agree to a degree.
However, having been in the system and familiar with fostercare, sometimes, it is NOT in the best interest of the child, period.

We can only pray, that with all of the cut backs and layoffs everywhere around us, that this tiny baby does not slip the cracks.
She has been saved this time ~ I hope and pray that there is not "next time".
